New Wines from Oyster Bay Winery in New Zealand
Oyster Bay Marlborough Chardonnay concentrated aromas and flavours of ripe citrus and stonefruit, balanced with subtle oak, and a creamy texture to finish.

Oyster Bay Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc zesty and aromatic with lots of lively, penetrating fruit characters. A concentration of tropical and gooseberry flavours with an abundant bouquet, it is a wine that is always crisp, elegant and refreshing.

Oyster Bay Marlborough Pinot Noir elegant cool climate pinot noir at its best. Fragrant, soft and flavorful with aromas of ripe cherries, plums and gentle sweet fruit tannins to provide serious structure and length.

Oyster Bay Merlot, Hawkes Bay is about elegance and intensity of fruit. The hero is always freshness of ripe fruit, spice and soft tannins on the palate.

New Wines at Bistro 108

Come in and try our new wines. All highly rated, wonderful, food friendly wines. Below are just five of the many new wines we have added.

Sauvignon Republic -2007 Sauvignon Blanc, Russian River Valley, California:
Classic pale-straw color with rich pineapple, grapefruit, and tropical fruit layers and a touch of herbal “green” sauvignon notes. Multiple vineyard sources allowed the assembly of a blend that showcases fruitiness and refreshing acidity supported by a surprising richness and length of finish. Rated 90 by Wine Enthusiast

Gundlach Bundschu Wines:

Gundlach Bundschu 2005 Chardonnay, Rhinefarm Vineyard

100% Chardonnay. Aromas of pineapple and warm spice lead to rich flavors of meyer lemon, pink lady apples and a touch of creme brulee. Excellent acidity and fruit clarity draw the round and creamy mouthfeel to a cleansing finish with lasting flavors of bright lemon drop.
Rated a 91 by Wine PhD

Gundlach Bundschu 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon, Rhinefarm Vineyard

96% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Petit Verdot. Complex aromas of blackberry, cassis and a trace of grilled meat lead to a lush, smooth entry. Broad, rich tannins frame lush flavors of black
currant and draw the velvety mouthfeel into a long finish of dark cocoa and sweet espresso. Delicious upon release; optimal cellaring time two to 15 years. Rated a 91 by Wine PhD

Gundlach Bundschu 2005 Merlot, Rhinefarm Vineyard

94% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, 2% Malbec, 1% Syrah. Aromas and flavors of spiced black cherry, dark plum, blueberry and a beautifully integrated layer of tea leaf. The juicy, dense palate is framed by broad, finely textured tannins. The elegant structure and bright acidity carry the flavors through a long, lingering finish. Delicious upon release, this Merlot will benefit from five years of cellaring and continue to age gracefully for 10 to 12 years.
Rated a 91 by Wine PhD

Gundlach Bundschu 2005 Pinot Noir, Rhinefarm Vineyard

100% Pinot Noir. Aromas of black cherry, dried rose petal and black spice lead to broad, juicy dark fruit flavors with complex minerality and classic Burgundian character. This medium-weight red gets its supple mouthfeel from 35-year-old Heritage clone fruit and its concentration and weight from younger Pommard and Dijon clone blocks, resulting in complexly layered flavors, elegant texture and a long, smooth finish. It will benefit from cellaring 3 to 7 years.
Rated a 91 by Wine PhD, 85 by Wine Enthusiast

Live Music at Bistro Saturday

Amanda Tipps & Ed Collins Performing Saturday
Amanda Tipps & Ed Collins will be performing live music at the Bistro on Saturday July 18, 7pm to 8pm. Make your reservations early and enjoy a great dinner and wine along with the live music. Amanda sings and Ed accompanies her on his guitar. Hope to see you there.

This Week's Featured Wine
Matanzas Creek 2006 Pinot Noir, Bennett Valley, Sonoma County
"Our cool climate home in Bennett Valley provides ideal growing conditions for this fickle grape. This wine proves vibrant on the palate, with flavors of cranberry, pomegranate and hint of smoke, which we believe emanates from the Bennett valley subsoil. The wine's structure will allow for it to be reserved for the next three to five years. With time, this Pinot Noir will become more velvety and sophisticated and the minerality will become more pronounced." -Winery

Wine Club Enthusiasts Announcement:

My distributor is scheduled to get their allotment of the 2006 Peter Michael La Pavots red Bordeaux blend in around May 19. This is a fabulous wine and one that you would want in your cellar for those very special events. I do not have an exact price per bottle yet, but anticipate that the price will be around $180 per bottle for those purchasing a bottle to take home. My wine list price at the restaurant will run about $225 per bottle. Robert Parker of the Wine Enthusiast has already scored this wine a 96. For additional information go to the
Peter Michael page. If you are interested in purchasing a bottle or case of this great wine please email me as soon as possible so I can order it now. I was only able to obtain 1 bottle of the 2005 La Pavots which the Wine Spectator rated a 97 and it is already gone.

We have been very happy with the wine club sales. We are starting slowly, but those of you who have taken advantage of the great deals on our wines and ones you have requested I special order for you have said you are very happy. We appreciate your business.

Remember, if you have a favorite wine or wines you like keeping at home just drop us an email list and I will find out what I can sell them to you for. No obligation. I will not order them until you give me the go ahead. Life is too short to drink bad wine.
